Queue & Barrier Pro

How do I make a barrier?

Add a curve (or a mesh line), leave it active, press Shift+A > Barrier and pick a product. A post stands on every point and a belt, rope, chain, rail or panel joins them. To place posts by clicking, use Draw Barrier: each post stops where the next belt would be too long.

What do I need to run it?

Blender 5.1 or newer. The add-on installs as a Blender extension, and everything it needs is in the zip: no other add-ons and no extra downloads.

Does the barrier follow my curve when I change it?

Yes. Move, add or delete points of the curve or mesh and the barrier follows. Follow Source (Line > Source and Merging) turns that off. Moving or rotating the barrier's root moves the source with it.

Do my changes survive when the barrier is rebuilt?

Yes. A value can be set for the whole line, for one post or for one segment, and those overrides stay when the line is rebuilt and when you add points elsewhere. The overrides button in the summary row lists every one of them, and a reset arrow puts a value back to the line's.

Does it work with Eevee and Cycles?

Yes, the materials are Blender node materials. In Eevee, panel glass reflects only the world, because Eevee has no reflection probes here. Cycles shows full reflections.

Can I use my own logos, stickers and panel images?

Yes. The logo, sticker and image rows in the Look panel each have a folder button for your own file, and the library popups have a Custom Image... choice. You choose whether the images are packed into the .blend or linked to the file (Image Placement and Storage). The add-on also brings 20 belt logos, 26 cap stickers, 24 panel images and 22 sign designs.

Can I save my own looks?

Yes. The Look row under the product applies a whole look in one click: Airport Blue, Bank Brass, Hotel Red Velvet, Museum Black, Construction Site or Event Branded. Press + to save your own, as Look Only (finishes, colours, prints, wear and variation; it keeps the line's product) or Look and Sizes. Your presets are stored in the add-on's own folder, so every Blender file can use them, and you can rename, export and import them. Default takes any preset off.

Can a line end on a wall?

Yes, for every product. A line end can stand on a wall with a fitting made for it: a receiver or a cassette for belts, a plate or a hook for ropes and chains, a screw eye, a bracket for beams, a flange for the Brass Bank Rail, a rail for panels. A line end whose post would cut into a wall becomes a wall mount by itself (Auto Wall Ends), and in Draw Barrier you can click a wall to end the line there. Ropes and chains keep their length to the fitting, and rails and panels are cut to fit.

Can panels follow a slope?

Yes. Slope (Line > Pieces and Slopes) has three modes. Turned turns each panel in its plane between upright posts. Stepped keeps every panel level and holds it with a clamp on the lower post. Shaped makes each panel to its slope, with upright sides, for permanent installs. You can set it for the line or for a single panel. Rails are always Turned.

Can I build rails and panels in my own lengths, with right angles only?

Yes, with two independent switches for rails and panels. Fixed Lengths builds every piece from your lengths (the product's stock lengths, or your own such as 1.5 m and 0.5 m), the long ones first, and the Report counts each. Right Angles Only builds the simplest square path along your points: every turn is exactly 90 degrees and your points are guides. Both are off by default.

Can I use my own materials?

Yes. Posts, belts, ropes, chains, rails and panel inserts each have a Custom Material choice.

Is a long queue slow to work with?

The Detail setting keeps it quick. Auto picks Close-up, Standard or Far from the distance to the active camera, and a drag shows a light Preview while it runs. A 50-post bollard line takes about 4 ms per drag update (measured headless on Blender 5.1). For a hero shot, pick Close-up.

Do ropes and chains stretch to fit?

No. A rope or chain is a fixed length that sags between its posts. If the posts are too far apart the line is drawn taut and the warning says how to fix it: move the posts closer, add a vertex, turn on Add Posts > On Long Spans, or give it a longer length.

Can I export to a game engine?

Yes. Join for Export makes one joined mesh copy of the barrier with the materials kept, and the live barrier stays as it is. Use Blender's normal export on the copy.

Can I use it in paid work?

Yes. The licence is GPL-3.0-or-later: use it for any work, including paid work, and change it. If you pass the add-on on, the same licence and the source go with it.

What is the Studio licence?

Studio covers up to five seats for $59, for a team that shares the add-on. It is the same add-on with the same updates.

Are updates free?

Yes. Every update is free for everyone who has bought Queue & Barrier Pro. More barrier systems are planned, and the price may rise as they are added, so buying early costs less.

Are the real-world sizes accurate?

Every size is stored in a data file in the add-on, and each value is marked verified (from a cited source) or to verify (an estimate). The estimates are not presented as facts.

How do I get help?

Questions and bug reports go through SuperHive, where your purchase and updates live. The docs have a troubleshooting page that explains the warnings, and the barrier menu's Report... with its Copy Report button gives a report that can be fixed fast.
